Homemade Fudge Wedding Favor

If you love this Homemade Fudge Wedding Favor recipe, be sure to Yum it here: Yum

My mom makes homemade fudge every Christmas to go with her famous cookie platters. It's one of those treats that you sneak into the fridge for. You know, the kind of treat that you take, then move everything in the container around a little bit to cover the empty spot your sneaky hands just created.

I never made it myself, though, until 2015.

See, it rained for about ten days in a row here, and Pete and I braved the hurricane and flooding to pick up some groceries. So of course, we had to pick up the ingredients to make homemade fudge.

Because calories don't count during a hurricane.

As I was making it, I realized what a perfect wedding favor this would be and, thus, this post was born.

Looking for a cheap and easy treat? Check out this TWO-INGREDIENT homemade fudge from www.abrideonabudget.com. Seriously, it's a perfect homemade wedding favor -- or any party favor, really. And just two ingredients (which you may already have at home!). Pin now, make it later.

Homemade Fudge Wedding Favor

This recipe below is for basic homemade fudge. You can use this as a base for all different sorts of fudge.

I have a couple examples of fudge varieties at the end of this post, so be sure to check those out after you have the basic recipe down.

Combine the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in microwave safe bowl.

Microwave it for one minute.

Add in the vanilla. Stir until all the ingredients are combined and the mixture starts getting thick.

If the chocolate chips aren't melted completely, you can add the bowl back into the microwave at 30 second intervals.

Pour the bowl's contents into a foil-lined 8x8 cake pan. Spread it out evenly.

Chill it in the fridge, at least two hours.

Cut into bite-sized 1-inch pieces. This recipe will make 64 1-inch pieces.

Cut the butcher paper into 4x4 inch squares.

Put a piece of fudge in the center of the paper square. Fold two opposite sides to the middle. Fold the other two sides in. Set aside.

Do this three times, with three pieces of fudge, then stack those three pieces.

Tie a piece of baker's twine around it. Tie a thank you tag to it when you get to the top, then use the excess twine make a bow atop.

How absolutely adorable would that look at everyone's seats?

This homemade fudge wedding favor recipe makes 64 pieces. So that's about 21 favors per batch. If you're having 100 guests at your wedding, you need to make four batches to complete your favors.

This fudge was so easy to make and Pete and I actually made it together, so this sounds like a good bonding experience for you and your fiance.

Homemade Wedding Fudge Varieties

Now that you have the basic homemade fudge recipe down, you can work on varieties.

Some of our favorite homemade fudge varieties are:

You can add nuts -- although, if you're doing this as a favor, I would avoid those because people may have allergies -- candy cane, marshmallows ... you could use white chips, peanut butter chips ... I mean, really, your possibilities are pretty endless.

If you want the additions of those things to be mix ins, stir them in after you have melted the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in the microwave. That way, they'll be in the mixture when you pour it into your pan.

If you want them to be toppings, pour the fudge into the pan and spread it evenly first, then add your toppings on top of the fudge while it's still warm.

Use the back of a fork to press the toppings into the fudge.

If you don't push the toppings into the fudge before cooling it, there is a very good chance that they'll fall off and won't actually stick into your fudge.

End your Halloween meal with this super fun (and easy!) Halloween Fudge. Get the recipe at www.drugstoredivas.net.

How To Make Fudge In Your Wedding Colors

This could actually end up being its own post, honestly. But for now, we're going to just give you a quick overview of what you could do to make two toned fudge.

Also, we're pretending you have two wedding colors (so it will look like the image above, just without the candy on top). If you have more colors, you can just adapt this to include more colors.

Two Tone Fudge:

Start with 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 3 cups of white chocolate chips, and food coloring in your wedding colors.

Split the white chocolate chips between two bowls. Pour the sweetened condensed milk between both bowls. Set one aside.

Take one of the bowls and microwave it for one minute. Stir until the chocolate has melted. Add a few drops of your first food coloring to the mixture, then stir to combine.

Pour the mixture into a foil lined 8x8 pan, spread it evenly, and put it in the fridge for at least two hours.

After it has chilled, microwave the bowl you set aside. Add your second food coloring color to this mixture.

Carefully pour the second color on top of the first color and spread it evenly. Put this back in the fridge to chill at least two hours before cutting.

Just like the fudge above, you can wrap it in butcher paper and twine. Definitely choose twine that matches your wedding colors if you do that. But, since you went through all the trouble of making this match your wedding colors, you should just buy clear, cellophane treat bags and package them in those so everyone can see your hard work. You can even get a foil twist tie to match your wedding colors.

Homemade S'mores Fudge Wedding Favor

If you love this recipe, be sure to Yum it here: Yum

With Memorial Day next weekend, summer seems to be officially starting. But the truth is, it's warm here all the time in North Carolina. The weather here is amazing, which means we can enjoy outdoor activities -- like fire pits and walks on the beach at night -- long into November.

So s'mores? Yup, we can have them at any time. Maybe you can't, though. Maybe you live somewhere where May is too cold to go outside and roast s'mores outside your wedding venue. No worries. You can make s'mores fudge for your wedding favor. It's so easy and delicious!

Summer might be over, but you can still have s'mores at your wedding! Just make these DELICIOUS homemade s'mores fudge wedding favors from www.abrideonabudget.com.

Homemade S'mores Fudge Wedding Favor

I love these as wedding favors because they're so easy to make. It's only a few minutes of prep, so it really is a wedding favor that you can make on your own. The fudge stores well in the fridge too, so you can make them ahead of time and just keep them cool until wedding day.

Pull the foil out from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Use a large knife to cut it into squares. I did six rows by six rows, for a total of 36 pieces. You'll probably give two pieces per guest, so this recipe is enough for 18 guests ... unless you steal a few pieces for yourself while you're cutting them!

Italian Rainbow Cookies (perfect for bridal showers)

If you love this Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe, be sure to Yum it here: Yum

Cookies are the quintessential bridal shower dessert. Yes, of course, you're going to order a cake that says, "Showers of happiness" on it because that's what you do even though, let's be honest, showers of happiness doesn't actually make much sense.

But you get a cake because you get a cake. You also should put out cookies because everyone loves cookies. You can go to a store and pick up a tray of cookies for a gazillion dollars a pound or you can make your own cookies. Personally, I say make them. I have an amazing recipe for Italian Rainbow Cookies that taste exactly like any you'd get out of a bakery up north. They are a little labor intensive, but they're so worth it.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Italian Rainbow Cookies

Keep in mind, these are a two day cookie. You do have to let them sit in the fridge overnight before you put the chocolate on them. So they're not something you can make the morning of before everyone comes over.

They do keep really well in the freezer (we've kept them there for weeks before), so feel free to make them as early as you need to.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

What You'll Need:

What You'll Do:

Preheat your oven to 350.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Separate your eggs. In a stand mixer, beat the egg whites using the wire whip until stiff peaks form. Set the eggs aside.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Also in the stand mixer, but this time using the flat beater, combine the almond paste, butter, sugar, and egg yolks.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

When they're combined, add in the flour. Do half, beat until combined, then add the second half. Combine. Fold in the egg whites.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Separate the batter into three separate bowls. Add eight drops of red food coloring to one and stir until it is combined. Add eight drops of green food coloring to the second and stir until combined. Leave the third as is.

Let the dough rest for about 20 minutes.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Line three 9x13 pans with parchment paper. Spread one dough per pan, trying to make all three as even as possible.

Bake each pan, simultaneously, for about ten minutes, until the ends become golden brown.

Let them cool completely.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

Take the green cake out of the pan, and put it on a large piece of foil. Sread the raspberry jam on top of the green cake. You want to make sure it as even as possible. Anything too thick can drip into your cake.

Place the yellow cake on top of the jam. Spread the apricot preserve on top, again, as evenly as possible.

Top with the red cake. Now, with this one, make sure you are putting the top against the jam. That way, the top of the cookie will be the flat bottom of the cake.

Wrap the cookie completely in foil, then put it back into a 9x13 pan. Put your heaviest cookbooks on top of the cookie and refrigerate overnight.

Italian Rainbow Cookies are a great bridal shower dessert -- and you can make them yourself! Get an Italian Rainbow Cookies recipe on www.abrideonabudget.com.

The next morning, melt the chocolate chips. Pour the chocolate on top of the cookie and spread it evenly.

When the chocolate is completely cooled, cut the cookies into rectangles.

These would be great to put out on a three-tier serving stand. I would suggest a homemade fudge on the top tier, these on the middle tier, and our mint to be chocolate mint muffins on the bottom tier.

100 Wedding Favors (Your guests will actually take)

A lot of brides say that they're going to cut wedding favors from their budgets, but, honestly, I think favors are such a great part of weddings. Yes, you are feeding your guests at the wedding, but they're also giving you a gift (which is them paying for their plate). So that's a wash. You will send them a thank you card, of course, but that can take months. A wedding favor as a trinket to say thank you, that's really sweet and won't break the bank.

But what exactly is a good wedding favor? And is there such a thing as a bad wedding favor?

Anything on the list below is a good wedding favor. But yes, there are bad wedding favors. No one needs a key chain with you and your groom's smiling faces on it. They're not going to carry that around. And, if they don't want it, they won't take it, leaving you with 100 or so key chains with your photo on it. At that point, even you don't want that favor.

Deciding on your wedding favors? Check out our list of 100 Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Actually Take from www.abrideonabudget.com.

Homemade Peanut Butter Squares Wedding Favors

If you love this Homemade Peanut Butter Squares Wedding Favors recipe, be sure to Yum it here: Yum

I'm a huge supporter of wedding favors. I really think you need to give them. And not a donation en lieu of favors. Actual favors. Because sometimes, you don't send your thank you cards out for three to six months (and honestly, I went to a wedding three years ago and the couple still hasn't sent out cards, so I'm giving up on ever getting that one).

So you should at least give something on your wedding day with a thank you. A few chocolates in a bag with a thank you sticker, maybe, or these homemade peanut butter squares wedding favors.

I generally wouldn't suggest making your own wedding favors, if you can help it. They can be very time consuming, and you just don't always have time during wedding week.

These peanut butter squares are insanely easy though. You can totally make them during wedding week. That's not the problem. The problem is making sure you don't eat them all before your wedding.

These Homemade Peanut Butter Squares Wedding Favors are perfect if you're looking for a delicious DIY wedding favor. Get the recipe at www.abrideonabudget.com.

Homemade Peanut Butter Squares Ingredients:

How To Make Homemade Peanut Butter Squares:

Melt 1 cup of the chocolate chips in the microwave.

Pour the melted chips into a foil-lined 8x8-inch pan. Spread them using an icing knife. Try and make the layer as even as possible.

Put the pan in the freezer for about five minutes. While that's cooling, measure the peanut butter. Put it in the microwave for between 30 seconds and one minute, just to make it a little softer.

Mix in the powdered sugar.

Take the pan out from the freezer and pour in the peanut butter mixture. Again, using an icing knife, spread it out and try to make this layer as even as possible as well.

Put the pan in the freezer for a few minutes (five is good, less is okay).

Melt the second cup of chocolate chips. Pour it on top of the peanut butter and spread that out evenly as well (yes, using an icing knife).

Put the pan in the freezer until it hardens completely. When it does, cut it into squares. I like to make 1-inch squares, so you can get 64 squares per tray. If you get a small treat bag that will fit four per bag, this makes 16 favors.

These Homemade Peanut Butter Squares Wedding Favors are perfect if you're looking for a delicious DIY wedding favor. Get the recipe at www.abrideonabudget.com.

Save the squares in an airtight container in the fridge and continue making treats until you have enough for each of your guests.

When you're ready, put the squares in a bag, add a small thank you sticker, and that's the perfect wedding favor.

Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake (You have to see it in action!)

I loved our wedding cake. Absolutely loved it more than any other wedding cake I've ever had. It was eye catching and delicious. You can't ask for more from a cake.

Unless you're Disney.

Because they made a cake that's basically a projection screen. It's a cake that has your images projected onto it. Want Tinkerbell sprinkling fairy dust across your cake? Family photos? A love poem?

Disney can make that happen.

Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake

My wedding twin Kristiana showed me the cake this morning, and I can't stop thinking about it. It's a little dramatic for me, personally, but it will definitely be a cake your guests will remember years later.

Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake

Cinderella-themed wedding with her horse and carriage strolling across your cake? Why not.

I mean, if Disney can make this happen on Cinderella's castle, of course the mouse house can make it happen on a cake.

I was worried, though, that with the lights on, you'd end up with a completely white cake. But, in the light, this cake is even prettier.

Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake

You can completely customize your cake, making it unique to you. And the projection on the Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake is completely edible, so you can do a traditional cake cutting and actually serve this cake to your guests. Plus, that also means you can pick any type of cake you want ... although, I would guess that you wouldn't be able to have a chocolate fudge icing because this probably needs to be displayed on something white. But I'm not really sure.

If you're planning on wearing the Disney Frozen wedding dress, this sounds like the logical cake for you. And if you're really into Disney Cakes, you can sign up for Disney Cakes & Sweets magazine for free. You'll get the premiere issue of Disney Cakes & Sweets Magazine for free, plus a free Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter and Winnie the Pooh Silicone Molds. I wonder if this new projection cake will be a huge part of the magazine? I can't see why it wouldn't.

But, in case you're curious about the Disney Image Projections Wedding Cake and can't wait for the magazine, you're in luck. I needed more details, so I found a YouTube video about the cake. You can watch it below and get your questions answered.

Homemade Red, White, And Blue Chocolate Star Wedding Favors

It's Memorial Day Weekend, which is making me think of red, white, and blue wedding favors. They can be really festive if you're having a wedding this weekend or a July 4th wedding. And, if you've been around here a while, you know I'm a big fan of edible wedding favors. So, of course, I think these red, white, and blue chocolate star wedding favors are perfect.

You can make them at home yourself whenever you have time, then save them until your wedding day.

I made them using a star-shaped silicone mold. If you're making these for your wedding, I would recommend picking up multiple molds. It would take you a really long time to make enough for all your guests if you could only make a couple at a time.

A perfect patriotic wedding favor are these Homemade Red, White, And Blue Chocolate Star Wedding Favors. Find out how to make them at www.abrideonabudget.com. You can change them to your wedding colors as well.

Homemade Red, White, And Blue Chocolate Star Wedding Favors

Now, small aside: I'm making them red, white, and blue in this tutorial because I'm posting this on Memorial Day Weekend. Honestly, you can make them any colors you want.

Using the garlic grater side of a cheese grater, shave the blue then red candy melts into the cavities of the star-shaped mold.

You don't want to completely fill the bottom with shavings. You do want to see the white through some of it.

And don't worry if you end up getting some of the shavings on the side. They'll add to the character of these.

Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwavable-safe bowl. I suggest regular chocolate chips for this instead of white candy melts. Personally,  I don't love the taste of candy melts (although they have gotten better recently), so I vote for white chocolate chips instead.

Melt them for 30 seconds, then stir. Put them back in the microwave for another 30 seconds, then stir. Continue this until the chocolate chips are completely melted.

A perfect patriotic wedding favor are these Homemade Red, White, And Blue Chocolate Star Wedding Favors. Find out how to make them at www.abrideonabudget.com. You can change them to your wedding colors as well.

Spoon a dollop of melted white chocolate into each star-shaped cavity in the mold. Don't overfill them because then the bottom of these won't sit flat. You're putting them in a plastic bag, so it's not the biggest deal if they're not perfectly flat, but I really am a perfectionist when it comes to anything wedding.

A perfect patriotic wedding favor are these Homemade Red, White, And Blue Chocolate Star Wedding Favors. Find out how to make them at www.abrideonabudget.com. You can change them to your wedding colors as well.

Bounce the silicone mold on your countertop a few times. That will flatten out the melted white chocolate.

If you're like me and you were messy when you were shaving the red and blue candy melts, the extra shavings along the top of the mold will fall into your chocolate when you're bouncing the mold. I think it's okay but if you're even more of a perfectionist than I am, you'll want to wipe the mold off before scooping the white chocolate.

Put them in the fridge to cool completely before popping them out of the mold. They'll come out so easily and without any real effort. Put them in a bag to sit in your fridge until you're ready to package them.

When you are, cut thin, long strips of red and blue card stock. Fold them back and forth, like an accordion. Then, cut them every two or so inches to create paper shred (or you could just purchase paper shred if you don't feel like making it).

Chocolate Dipped Banana Bites Wedding Favors

There are a few wedding traditions that I really stand by. One is having wedding favors. A lot of experts will tell you to cut those first if you are worried about your budget, but I absolutely disagree. Your guests are (often) traveling to your wedding, (perhaps) staying overnight, and (always) giving you a generous gift. The least you can do is give them a small treat or trinket at the end of the night. You can even make them, like these Chocolate Dipped Banana Bites Wedding Favors.

I made these recently for a night out, and they were a big hit. They're super simple, something you can make in an assembly line ahead of time, and they're budget-friendly. They hit the spot, too, when you want one more bite of something sweet -- which is the exact feeling I have as I leave every wedding.

It's not that I don't get enough to eat at weddings. I usually do. But I'm a big fan of that last parting bite.

I blame it on a wedding I went to with a Venetian hour. You walked in (at about 11:30 at night!) and were handed a Styrofoam to go box. You were able to fill it with freshly baked cookies, chocolate dipped bananas, candy, and funnel cakes. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced at a wedding. After that, I swore I was going to have a dessert-only wedding.

I didn't.

And you won't either.

But you can pass out these tasty chocolate dipped banana bites wedding favors on the way out, and your guests will leave happy, surprised, and satisfied.

Chocolate Dipped Banana Bites Wedding Favors

You can make about 8 bites per banana. And you want to give at least two per guest, so you're looking at about one banana per four guests. Keep that math in mind when you're sorting out the number you need to make.

Also keep in mind that you might taste test a few of these as you're making them. That's my only problem with DIY edible wedding favors. Too many of them get taste tested while I'm making them.

Slice the bananas into eight or so pieces. Try really hard to make your cuts are straight. That may mean you have to turn the banana. Too many angles will mean they won't stand up straight and will look homemade.

And that's okay, honestly. A lot of the wedding favor ideas I suggest are homemade. But you don't want them to look homemade. That's the trick.

So, cut your bananas and then put them in a freezer-safe container.

Freeze them for at least an hour. Longer makes them a little easier to handle, shorter is just as fine.

While you're waiting for them to freeze, finely chop your sliced almonds. Put them in a small container. Put the nonpareils into a separate small container.

When they're frozen ...

Melt your chocolate chips, then set up an assembly line of chocolate, toppings, toothpicks, and frozen banana bites. Also, set out a cookie sheet that's topped with a silicone baking mat. You're not going to bake these, but the baking mat makes for super easy clean up.

Stab the banana with a toothpick, dip the banana into the chocolate, then into either the sprinkles or the almonds.

Put them, topping side down, onto the baking mat.

When you're done, put the entire tray into the freezer.

Take them out about 20 minutes before your wedding ends and you want to serve them. They need to thaw out a little before you eat them, although not too long or they get a little mushy.

When you serve them, flip them so the topping is now on top. They look a lot cuter that way.

If you're making these, you could also consider dipping the entire banana bite into the chocolate instead of just dipping them like I did. I really like the dipped look. Plus, it eliminates the confusion someone might have when they're expecting a marshmallow and end up with a banana.
