What I actually think makes it a great wedding favor idea is it doesn't require soil. So if you have guests who are traveling, they don't have to worry about dirt all over their luggage like they would if you gave out another type of plant. And, they can live in really fun items, like cute seashells, which double as really pretty table décor for your reception.
Air plants don't exactly grow. They can potentially spawn babies, but they're not like spider plants that end up growing out of control. So you can't affix any sort of “Let Love Grow” wedding favor tag to them. Instead, I made a "beLEAF in love" tag because air plants have leaves.
Air Plant Wedding Favor
This is definitely a fun wedding favor that is a little unique too. It might be more indigenous to the south and east, but you can give them out anywhere.
What You'll Need:
- Air plants
- Sea urchin shells
- Toothpicks
- Scissors
- Tape
- beLEAF in love wedding favor printable *see below
What You'll Do:
Save the printable above by right-clicking on it. Print it out on card stock when you're ready for the craft.
Cut out a tag and tape it to a toothpick.
I only used one tag per favor, however, if you used double-sided tape instead, you could put two tags on each favor so you don't see the toothpick.
Stick the air plant in the smaller hole in the sea urchin shell, then stick the toothpick through the air plant's leaves into the shell. Be sure to position it so you don't stab through the center root of the air plant.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I hate to say this but I throw so many of these air plants away all the time. We have them all over here in southern Florida.
