Inviting The President To Your Wedding

I've been really good about keeping our RSVP's in a spreadsheet and so far, there have only been two surprises. Both are a yes when I was expecting a no, so my guesstimate might be a little off. It might be off by an additional four if our latest invitees accept our invitation.

Yup. I am sending invitations to The President and Mickey Mouse.

If you have extra invitations, you might as well try it. There's no guarantee you will receive anything in return, but I hear you will get a pin from Mickey and a handwritten note back from Barack Obama.

I had a package from Gartner Studios for review, so I figured this was the perfect excuse to open it and check out the invitations.

The invitation set I got was the Aqua Flourish set (which, don't tell Mickey, but it's only $29.99 for a set of 50 invitations. That's only $.60 each). I got to check out the sealing wax stamper (in the double heart) ans sealing wax in silver.

The invitation set has everything you'll need. There are flat invitations with accompanying envelopes and RSVP cards with matching envelopes. This is your basic invitation set. If you need to include accommodations, I would advise you printing that directly onto the invitation since this set doesn't have an extra card for those.

The set does, however, have test sheets.

When you receive the set, you'll head over to Gartner Studios' website and head over to the template page. You'll type in the SKU for your set and will be able to download the templates for the products. Then, you can type your text and make sure that it will fit on the invitation.

Print on the test sheet first, just to see how everything is aligned, before you actually print on the invitations.

When I was done with that, I moved on to the stamper.

I melted the heck out of the wax.

Set it down on the envelope. And repeated this a few times as the instructions on the package suggested.

I pushed the stamper on top.

And ended up with a sloppy mess with no indication of any hearts. Sorry Mickey, I should have practiced first.

I decided to practice on a napkin after my first attempt. I really made sure to melt the wax down and this time, instead of multiple layers of wax, I just went with one. The stamper originally got stuck to the napkin, so I yanked a little.

And the design was pretty perfect. Plus, nothing at all got stuck to the stamper, so that makes for easy clean up.

I used this new technique on the President and First Lady's invitation, and it came out a lot better than Mickey and Minnie's. A little more ink probably would have done me good, but I was happy with the result.
Between the three stamps photographed, I used 1/8 of an inch. The sticks are 2 5/8, so quick math would say you could get about 125 stamps per wax stick. The package is $7.99 and comes with four sticks, so you could basically get 500 stamps out of this. Now, if you want to follow me and invite the President, address the invitation to:

I did, also, include a stamped and self-addressed RSVP card for them, just as I had with all our other guests. Who knows, maybe they will use them to reply.

Update: I received a reply from the President and First Lady and a reply from Mickey and Minnie.
