DIY Wedding Escort Cards

We were chatting during #BridalBabble about doing things yourself. And sometimes, they completely don't work and DIY turns into D I Why did I do this?

But if you can DIY it, do it. You can save so much money. These escort cards were super cheap -- and super easy. 

But first, super quick: escort cards are often mistakenly called place cards. Escort cards tell your guests what table to sit at. Place cards tell your guests what exact seat to sit at. Most brides will create escort cards and will omit place cards (since exact seat doesn't matter but table does matter).

I made these escort cards in just a couple minutes with items I had at home and a pair of items I got for review from Paper Source.

DIY Wedding Escort Cards

What You'll Need:

• Cardstock
• Marker
• Tag paper punch
• White mini clothespins

What You'll Do:

Use the tag paper punch to punch out tags. It's so simple. Push the cardstock in the opening and push down on the punch. That's it. Perfect tags will be punched every time.

I'm kind of obsessed with paper punches right now. Until a few weeks ago, I didn't know any of them existed other than a hole punch. Paper Source carries a variety; everything from circles to cakes to hearts (which are very wedding friendly). If you can punch a hole, you can punch any other shape.

Plus, this will save a ton of time. In less than five seconds, you can punch the shape. And each one that follows will be the exact same size. If you were to do these by hand, you would need six cuts per tag. With the punch, it's one push. Seriously, if you have any DIY in your future, you will save yourself a ton of time if you use punches.

Use the marker to outline the edge to add a pop of color (you could save time and not do this, but it looked prettier to me).

Write your guests' names and table number. Stand them with the mini clothespins.
Now, for the sake of honesty: These clothespins crumbled beyond repair after I was done with my photo shoot. To open them to put the tags the first time, it was fine. But when I opened them to take the tags off, they fell apart in my hand. The wooden pieces twisted and fell off the metal. After it happened twice, I slid the other two tags out of the clothespins without opening them. I loved loved loved how they looked. So cute, so quaint, so functional. I loved how the escort cards looked with the clothespins holding them up. But if you are expecting these to be multi-use, maybe not (but, it's $2.50 for a pack of 25, so you can't expect too much for a dime).
